Abu Dhabi, February 27 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has taken part in the 1st session of Arab businessmen and investors conference with the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, currently underway in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
The event is held in collaboration with the Arab League under the theme: Toward a sustainable cooperation and partnership and coincides with the Investopia 2025 summit.
HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed, represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.
In a statement Thursday, the MOCI stated that the convention is intended to implement the Doha Declaration issued by the third session of Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with Countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan that was held in Doha in April 2024.
The conference aims to enhance the economic and investment cooperation between the two sides and provide an interactive platform for private sector, in addition to achieving integration among major regional economic events.
Addressing the opening session, HE Al Sayed highlighted that the conference underscores the keenness to forge the joint economic, trading and investment cooperation, along with strategic partnerships that support mutual investments, thereby contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ensuring a prosperous future for the nations and peoples of the two regions.
His Excellency added that the historical and civilizational relationships between the two sides constitutes a solid ground to promote them in multiple fields, emphasizing that the State of Qatar gives foremost priority to the role performed by the Qatari private sector in building strategic partnerships with Arab nations, as well as countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan through encouraging exchange of expertise, investments and projects that help achieve a sustainable economic growth.
He highlighted that the conference is a quintessential model to elevate cooperation to new heights through crafting initiatives that foster economic partnerships and trade and investment relationship that achieve shared interests, calling on businessmen and investors from the two sides to engage in joint efforts that contribute to achieving development and prosperity.
The conference features the participation of several ministers of economy and commerce from Arab nations and countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, alongside top-rung officials and representatives of regional and international organizations, as well as the private sector.
The event featured the ministerial roundtable that brought together ministers of economy and commerce, along with the heads of regional organizations who deliberated on the future of economic collaboration. The session concluded with a joint statement outlining the frameworks for future cooperation and shared initiatives, Overall, the conference featured panel discussions on regional corridors, trade opportunities, the new economy, food waste management, climate change, AI, and the digital economy, which addressed key sectors, including energy, trade, and investment. Additionally, roundtables and business meetings were held to foster corporate collaboration.
On the margins of the conference, HE Al Sayed separately met with HE Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Hassan El Khatib, HE Minister of Trade and Export Development of Tunisia, Samir Obeid, and HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade in the United Arab Emirates Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
The meetings tackled a wide array of topics of shared interest, aiming to reinforce cooperation between the State of Qatar and those nations in the domains of trade and investment and avenues for advancing them. (QNA)
