Qatar Chamber Discusses Enhancing Trade Cooperation with Cyprus
Doha, December 11 (QNA) - The Qatar Chamber discussed enhancing economic cooperation and investment opportunities available for collaboration between the Qatari and Cypriot business sectors.
This came during the meeting of Qatar Chamber Board Member Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misnad with Energy and Commercial Counsellor for the GCC Region in the Republic of Cyprus George Partasides.
In this context, Eng. Ali Al Misnad said that Qatar Chamber welcomes the idea of establishing a Cyprus Trade Office in Qatar, which would contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two countries. He pointed out that Qatar enjoys a strategic location, world-class infrastructure, a sustainable and robust economy, an advanced business environment, and an attractive investment climate, in addition to numerous investment opportunities, business-friendly legislation, and investment and tax incentives and facilities.
He noted that the presence of such an office in Qatar would help increase mutual investments and boost import and export activities between the two sides, stressing that Qatar is considered an ideal hub for global expansion and growth.
For his part, George Partasides said that Qatar and Cyprus enjoy strong relations, stressing the Cypriot side's interest in developing economic cooperation with Qatar across all sectors, especially in energy, electricity production, and infrastructure.
He pointed out that there is a possibility of opening a Cyprus Trade Office in Qatar, whose mission would be to link Cypriot and Qatari companies, promote Cypriot companies, products, and investments in the Qatari market, and enhance cooperation between the Cypriot and Qatari private sectors.
He also noted that an electronic platform dedicated to doing business in Cyprus has been launched specifically for Qatar, indicating that it provides comprehensive information about Cyprus, its economy, FDI environment, key investment incentives offered to foreign investors, as well as details on the business environment, investment climate, and taxation system.
