Qatar Airways CEO: 30 Aircraft Now Have Starlink's Wi-Fi Connectivity

Doha, February 25 (QNA) - More than 50 percent of Qatar Airways' Boeing 777 fleet, almost 30 aircraft, now have Starlink's Wi-Fi connectivity, revealed the flagship carrier's CEO Eng. Badr Mohammed Al Meer on Tuesday.

Addressing a panel titled "Redefining aviation: how Qatar Airways sets the benchmark" as part of the Web Summit 2025 now held in Doha, Al Meer said the multiple award-winning airline fulfilled its promises to provide the best wireless communication service on board the aircraft for its passengers at an unprecedented pace.

"We promised to have Starlink from Qatar Airways four months ago, and so many passengers are experiencing Starlink connectivity as we speak. it's implemented on 50% of our 777 fleet, almost 30 aircraft," he said.

He added that Qatar Airways worked closely with the Starlink team to reduce the time it took for aircraft to be equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi from around three days to 9.5 hours per aircraft.

"Our plan was to have 50 aircrafts by May of this year.

I'm sure we will exceed this number. We are continuing to install Starling on our aircraft. We are working very closely with Boeing and Airbus and Starlink teams.

"We will be the first airline to install Starlink on our Dreamliner 787 and our 353.

By the end of this year, Start link will be installed on all our white bodies.

"Al Meer added Qatar Airways is working proactively and looking for new technologies and new ways to provide a better experience for its passengers, and that the company’s future vision anticipates the needs of travelers over the coming decades.

He indicated the company seeks to benefit from AI to provide a better customer experience like the Sama app along with many other projects related to meals, customs duty exemption and working online.

Regarding Qatar Airways' partnership with the Web Summit, he said: "We have had a very successful partnership for several years with the Web Summit and technology at the forefront of this partnership.

We are proud to be part of the Web Summit." (QNA)
