Doha, October 19 (QNA) - HE Qatar Chamber's Member and Chairman of the Qatar Association for Freight Forwarding and Logistics (QAFL), Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al Misnad, has been elected Chairman of the Africa and Middle East Region (RAME) at the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) for a two-year term.
The announcement was made during the FIATA World Congress, held in Vietnam, under the theme "Green and Resilient Logistics." The event is considered the largest annual gathering in the global logistics sector, bringing together government leaders, international organizations, industry associations, experts, and companies specialising in logistics, transportation, import and export, and technology.
The Chamber participated in the event, which discussed the challenges and opportunities in the global freight sector, explored innovative solutions, and promoted international cooperation.
The Chamber's delegation was headed by HE Eng. Ali Al Misnad and included representatives from several shipping companies that are QAFL members, such as Qatar Airways and Servex.
Al Misnad was elected to this position after previously serving as Vice President of FIATA's Africa and Middle East Region since April 2024. During his tenure, he actively participated in numerous international meetings and worked diligently to convey the voice and needs of the Africa and Middle East region to decision-makers within FIATA.
On the occasion of his election, Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al Misnad explained that his election as Chair of FIATA's Africa and Middle East Region reflects the global confidence in Qatar and the significant achievements the country has made, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors.
He pointed out that Africa and the Middle East face a range of challenges that will be prioritized in the coming period, including digitization, customs facilitation, sustainability, and infrastructure. There is also a strong emphasis on enhancing cooperation and knowledge exchange among freight forwarder associations across countries in the region.
Eng. Al Misnad explained that the State of Qatar has achieved significant developments in transport and logistics infrastructure in recent years. He highlighted the importance of strengthening the logistics sector in Qatar and increasing its contribution to the national economy and Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as encouraging digital transformation, promoting sustainability, and connecting Qatar to global markets.
The Qatar Chamber officially joined FIATA in 2023 during the FIATA World Congress, held in Brussels, Belgium.
The newly established QAFL, which operates as a FIATA member in the country, plays a leading role in supporting the growth and development of the country's logistics sector, serving as a bridge between freight forwarders, logistics companies, and relevant authorities in the country. (QNA)
