MOCI's Committee on Trade, Private Sector Representatives Discuss Qatar Business Environment Challenges
Doha, March 09 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry's (MOCI) National Committee on Trade held a meeting with private sector representatives at the Ministry's headquarters to discuss the challenges facing the business environment in Qatar, examining their causes and their potential impacts on the commercial sector.
Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs at MOCI, Ayed Menahi Al Qahtani, who is also the head of the National Committee on Trade, chaired the meeting, which was attended by committee members and Qatar Chamber representatives.
The meeting looked into proposals put forward by the private sector's representatives, with the aim of finding practical solutions to improve the business environment and enhance commercial growth. Participants also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors to overcome current challenges and achieve sustainable growth for the commercial sector The National Committee on Trade was established in 2024 by a decision of HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani under the chairmanship of Ayed Menahi Al Qahtani. Its members include representatives from the Ministry of Transport, the General Authority of Customs, Qatar General Organization for Standards and Metrology, the General Tax Authority, the Qatar Free Zones Authority, the Economic Zones Company (Manateq), and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The committee is dedicated to organizing regular workshops and meetings with private sector representatives to discuss the challenges they face, their proposals, and the underlying causes and impact of these challenges on business and the economy overall. Its aim is to strengthen public-private partnerships, ensure transparency in addressing these challenges, build trust among stakeholders, and provide recommendations aligned with economic development priorities and efforts to improve the business environment.
