Ministry of Labour Launches Heat Stress Awareness Campaign for Construction Workers in Pearl District
Doha, June 18 (QNA) - The Ministry of Labour has launched a targeted heat stress awareness campaign for construction workers in the Pearl District.
Led by the Occupational Safety and Health Department, in collaboration with the Workers' Support and Insurance Fund, the initiative aims to raise awareness of the dangers posed by extreme temperatures and promote preventive measures to safeguard workers' health during the summer.
This campaign forms part of the Ministry's sustained commitment to cultivating a culture of occupational safety and health. Through regular workshops and awareness initiatives, the Ministry continues to advocate for safe workplace practices and rigorous adherence to safety regulations, particularly during periods of elevated temperature.
Occupational safety specialists provided comprehensive guidance on recognising early symptoms of heat-related illness and adopting appropriate preventative actions to mitigate associated health risks. Multilingual printed and visual materials were distributed. On-site briefings further reinforced essential advice and emphasised the importance of a prompt response to signs of heat stress.
Through a series of awareness workshops and seminars it organizes periodically throughout the year, the Ministry of Labour aims to enhance workers', employees', and employers' awareness of the culture of occupational safety and health, encourage them to adopt sound health behaviors, and emphasize the need to adhere to preventative measures and implement guidelines for working in hot climates, to ensure a safe work environment free of injuries and accidents.
