Ministry of Labor Holds Workshop for Domestic Workers Recruitment Offices

Doha, July 02 (QNA) - The Ministry of Labour today convened an introductory workshop for owners of domestic worker recruitment offices, focusing on the latest developments in digital transformation and the electronic services available through the Ministry’s unified platform. The event also provided a platform to discuss challenges related to recruitment procedures and enhance cooperation and coordination within the sector.

The workshop was attended by Assistant Undersecretary for Migrant Labour Affairs Hamad Faraj Dalmouk, alongside officials from the Ministry’s key departments, including Labour Relations, International Cooperation, Labour Disputes, and Occupational Safety and Health. This cross-departmental participation underscores the Ministry’s commitment to cohesive regulation and effective governance of the domestic worker recruitment sector.

In his opening address, Dalmouk emphasised the critical role recruitment offices play in supporting Qatar’s labour market. He highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to fostering a regulatory environment that balances the needs of the market with the operational realities of recruitment agencies.

Participants were briefed on the Ministry’s digital transformation agenda and the comprehensive range of services available via the unified platform, including license renewal, cancellation, transfer services, and other essential procedures.

An interactive session followed, where recruitment office owners engaged with Ministry representatives to discuss legislative and operational issues, such as the Wage Protection System, residency permit activation, license management, Occupational Safety and Health, and challenges encountered when liaising with embassies.

Attendees underscored the importance of continuing such forums to strengthen public-private partnerships, improve service transparency, and enhance sector performance.

The workshop concluded with actionable recommendations aimed at overcoming sector challenges, including bolstering direct communication channels between recruitment offices and the Ministry to foster improved regulatory oversight and a better working environment. (QNA)
