The UAE Ministry of Education (MoE), in cooperation with the Sirius Educational Centre and the Talent and Success Educational Foundation, has organised a specialised chemistry training camp for a group of students from UAE public and private schools. The initiative falls within the framework of the cooperation between MoE and leading educational institutions in Russia, which seeks to promote knowledge exchange and skills development in advanced scientific fields.
Held in the Russian Federation, the two-week camp was part of the Ministry's series of international educational initiatives aimed at broadening students' horizons, expanding their scientific knowledge, and providing them with quality learning experiences outside the UAE.
The camp programme, which included around 40 workshops, combined theoretical and practical education with innovative interactive methods based on problem solving and experimentation to develop students' analytical abilities, deductive reasoning, and scientific research and investigation skills.
The specialised theoretical lessons and lectures covered the concepts of theoretical chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and physical chemistry. Meanwhile, the practical training focused on advanced chemistry laboratory experiments to enable the participants to gain hands-on experience in preparing solutions, performing titration, using analytical instruments, and applying the principles of scientific experimentation with high precision.
The camp featured workshops on manufacturing phone support parts with mixed materials and included visits to science museums and the Russian Buran spacecraft. Students also hosted an open day with Sirius's International Friendship Club to showcase Emirati culture and values.
The educational programme was tailored to the different knowledge levels of the students, allowing each study group to make the most of the content provided according to their learning needs. The participants underwent a series of periodic assessment tests, which aimed to measure their progress and monitor their performance. Based on the results of these evaluations, the training plan was adapted to ensure the achievement of the desired educational objectives.
In addition, the agenda featured a host of cultural and recreational activities that contributed to facilitating social interaction among the students and enriching their educational experience in a multicultural environment. The participants also had the opportunity to engage with a group of academics and experts from various disciplines.
This international initiative is part of MoE's efforts to create a stimulating and diverse learning environment that aligns with global trends, enhances students' readiness for the future, and equips them with advanced knowledge, consolidating the UAE's position as a leader in education and innovation.
