Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital, affiliated with Emirates Health Services (EHS), organized the 5th International Pediatric & Pediatric Critical Care Conference. Held under the theme "From Innovation to Impact: Advancing Pediatric Medicine for Tomorrow," the event took place at Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk hotel.
The conference attracted over 52 local, regional, and international speakers from various medical specialties, alongside hundreds of participating doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals from the UAE and the wider region. They gathered to discuss the latest clinical developments and smart technologies in child healthcare through a comprehensive scientific program featuring panel discussions, specialized lectures, and practical workshops.
His Excellency Dr. Essam Al Zarooni, Acting Executive Director of the Clinical Services Sector at EHS, emphasized that the conference embodies the EHS’s ongoing commitment to elevating the pediatric healthcare system and enhancing its readiness through research and innovation. He noted that the development of pediatrics is a key pillar in the EHS's strategy to build a sustainable healthcare system based on quality and excellence, aligning with the UAE's vision of promoting community health and well-being.
He added that the conference serves as a strategic platform that brings together global experts to exchange experiences, formulate shared visions for the future of pediatrics, and expand the horizons of scientific cooperation in critical care and clinical research. This contributes to improving the quality of life for children both within the UAE and abroad.
Dr. Safiya AlKhajeh, Director of Al Qassimi Women's and Children's Hospital, confirmed that the conference reflects the hospital's pivotal role as a specialized center for developing pediatric and critical care services. She explained that the scientific program was designed to cover the latest advancements in pediatric respiratory, renal, nervous system, cardiac, infectious, endocrine, diabetic, gastrointestinal, hematological, and immunological diseases. Additionally, specialized sessions were held on the importance of employing artificial intelligence in medicine and pediatric critical care.
She further stated that the training workshops held prior to the conference, including sessions on AI in medicine, childhood asthma and wheezing disorders, ECG and EEG interpretation, and the use of ultrasound imaging, aim to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals. This translates EHS’s direction towards investing in continuous medical education and adopting innovative solutions.
The conference featured an extensive program with over eight parallel scientific sessions across two days, addressing the latest treatment practices and clinical research in various pediatric specialties. It saw participation from experts from the United States, Ireland, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. The event also provided an interactive platform for knowledge exchange among healthcare sector workers and highlighted leading national experiences in developing medical services for children, reinforcing the UAE's position as a leading regional hub for excellence and innovation in healthcare.
