"Ministry of Interior Organizes International Day of Families Forum in Cooperation with the Family Development Foundation"

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention – Federal Social Support Department, organized the International Day of Families forum under the theme Community Security Happiness and Stability. The event was held in collaboration with the Family Development Foundation at the Ministry’s courtyard, as part of the 2025 Year of Community initiatives, reflecting the authentic Emirati values of solidarity and cohesion, and emphasizing that individuals and families are the cornerstone of development.

The forum was attended by Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior; Colonel Dr. Saif Al Khreibani Al Nuaimi, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Community Protection and Crime Prevention; Colonel Dr. Ahmed Subai’an Al Tunaiji, Director of the Federal Social Support Department; Maryam Muslim Al Mazrouei, Director of the Community Service Division at the Family Development Foundation; and Wafa Mohammed Al Ali, Director of the Family Development Division at the Foundation, in addition to representatives from the Ministry of Interior Youth Council and the Higher Colleges of Technology.

In his keynote speech, Colonel Dr. Saif Al Khreibani Al Nuaimi stated:
The International Day of Families forum serves as a vital platform for institutional synergy in serving families and reinforcing partnerships that contribute to building a cohesive society rooted in security and happiness, in line with the directives of the wise leadership. It also reaffirms the Ministry of Interior’s steadfast commitment, alongside its strategic partners, to supporting family stability and empowerment through awareness, capacity building, and the development of a modern social support system based on best practices.

Colonel Dr. Ahmed Subai’an Al Tunaiji reviewed the efforts of the Federal Social Support Department and its centers in family protection and empowerment, recognizing the family as the foundation for a secure and stable society.

He emphasized that the department follows a clear methodology based on the leadership’s directives and a framework of distinguished initiatives and programs aimed at safeguarding families, enabling them to face contemporary social challenges, and improving the overall quality of family life.

Colonel Al Tunaiji pointed out that the forum provided a platform for dialogue, resulting in several key outcomes, including: strengthening family and social bonds to build an aware and stable community; supporting psychological and social stability within families; unifying institutional efforts toward an integrated care and protection system; building effective partnerships with relevant entities to achieve societal security; and engaging with the Year of Community as a national framework that enhances cohesion and unity in the social fabric.

Wafa Al Ali presented the Barakatna initiative, one of the Family Development Foundation’s projects launched in alignment with the goals of the Year of Community. The initiative reflects the UAE’s core social values and embodies the leadership’s commitment to caring for senior citizens and enhancing their quality of life within a framework of family and social solidarity.

The forum also featured a guided tour of the accompanying exhibition, held with the participation of the Family Development Foundation and the Higher Colleges of Technology, showcasing community-based projects and innovations in the field of family and social support.
