The first edition of the "Walk 30 League" which is organized by the Ministry of Health started yesterday. The league is part of the "Walk 30" campaign, one of the initiatives of the Health Sector Transformation Program. This campaign is in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 goals of promoting public health and encouraging society to adopt more active lifestyles.
The league attracted more than 10,000 participants, representing 2,226 teams from across the Kingdom. Participants committed to walking for 30 minutes daily, equivalent to 8,000 steps, amidst an exciting and competitive atmosphere aimed at instilling a culture of walking as a sustainable, healthy habit. The league is expected to witness further community engagement and participation.
On this occasion, the Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, said: "The launch of the walking league reflects our commitment to promoting preventive health and encouraging the community to adopt healthy lifestyles. Through this initiative, we seek to motivate individuals to engage in regular physical activity, given its significant role in improving quality of life and preventing chronic diseases."
The Ministry of Health confirmed that the "Walk 30 League" is the first of its kind in the Kingdom and builds on the success of the "Walk 30" campaign over the course of four previous editions. The initiative has contributed to raising community awareness of the importance of walking and promoting the participation of all age groups in sustainable sports activities.
Participants registered for the league via the Sehhaty app will have the opportunity to enter raffles for valuable prizes totaling up to SAR 250,000, to encourage more individuals to join this unique health experience.
